Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has lauded the "heroic" response of the Rescue 1122 to a fire at Lahore's Indigo Tower.
Sharing videos of the incident on X, she wrote: "Alhamdolillah, a major tragedy was averted today at Indigo Tower, Gulberg. Upon receiving reports of a fire in the basement, the Emergency Response Team was immediately mobilised."
She said that Energy Minister Faisal Khokhar, the Lahore commissioner, deputy commissioner and all concerned officials are present on site to oversee the operation.
She added that the explosion of the air-conditioning system boiler was severe; however, due to the swift, professional and heroic response of Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade, the f!re was brought under control with zero casualties.
"It is reassuring to note that the newly installed fire hydrants were fully functional and freshly implemented SOPs were in place which played a critical role in containing the incident," she shared.
Strict directives have been issued: All commercial boiler and cylinder installations across Punjab must fully comply with safety standards. Any premises found compromising public safety will be sealed immediately, without exception."
