Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif responded on Sunday to a recent article published in the British magazine The Economist, which discussed former first lady Bushra Bibi’s influence during former prime minister Imran Khan’s government.

When a reporter asked Maryam about the article’s claim that the government was being run on “black magic,” she replied, “The whole world knows it, there is no doubt about it.”

During her departure from London, CM Maryam was asked about the recent resignations submitted by several judges following the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. A reporter questioned whether she believed the resignations were driven by political motives or by the judges’ conscience.

In response, CM Maryam said, “I don’t want to say much about it, but I wish these consciences had awakened when Nawaz Sharif Sahib, myself, and others faced the consequences of their complicity for six years. I wish they had woken up at that time. What we are seeing now are politically motivated steps, not actions driven by conscience.”

While sharing her views on the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maryam praised him, stating, "No one could be a better suitable person for this appointment."

She highlighted General Munir's achievements, which she said cemented his leadership and brought global recognition and respect to Pakistan, adding, "In my view, no one was as deserving for this appointment as he is."
