A Rawalpindi court on Wednesday remanded two suspects in judicial custody in the Hina Javed murder case.
Hina Javed was found dead in the washroom of her apartment in the Lalkurti area of Rawalpindi on August 20.
The two suspects, the victim's husband Faisal Asghar and domestic worker Zeeshan, were brought before Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Qasim Javed after their four-day physical remand ended.
The police asked the court to send both suspects to jail as the investigation continued. The judge accepted the request and sent them to jail. The police claimed that Asghar killed Hina with Zeeshan’s help. They said Zeeshan had confessed to strangling Hina during an argument between the couple.
According to reports, Zeeshan told investigators that Hina attempted to escape during the altercation. He and Asghar allegedly stopped her and restrained her.
The latest development comes days after the court extended the physical remand of both suspects by four days on August 29 to allow police to continue investigating the case.
Hina’s father-in-law had initially contacted the police and reported that thieves had entered the house, according to the reports. When police reached the property, however, they found Hina’s body tied to a shower in the bathroom.
