A local court in Multan on Friday granted seven-day physical remand of TikToker and YouTuber Hakeem Shehzad to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on charges of uploading inappropriate videos on social media.
Hakeem Shahzad was presented before the Special Judicial Magistrate (Criminal Division). His wife, Dania Shah, the former spouse of prominent television anchor late Dr Aamir Liaquat, was present during the hearing.
FIA’s cybercrime team arrested Shahzad from Shujaabad on Wednesday.
According to the FIA, the TikToker allegedly spread rumours about the rape of a private college student in his videos and uploaded content inciting hatred toward law enforcement agencies.
The FIA requested physical remand to recover additional controversial videos and apprehend accomplices involved in the case.
Hakeem Shahzad is popular on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook, where he also often promotes self-made medical remedies in his videos.
His arrest stems from a viral video where he questioned a TikToker named Chacha Siraiki about an alleged incident at a private college in Lahore, prompting an inappropriate response.
Shahzad later issued an apology on social media for his comments in the video.
