Doctor shot dead near Bakra Piri in Karachi's Lyari

A doctor was gunned down near Bakra Piri in Karachi's Lyari on Monday afternoon, in what police say may have been an act of targeted killing.

The police said that the victim, identified as Dr Lal, was en route to the Lyari Expressway when he was attacked.

According to initial findings, two assailants on a motorcycle approached him from behind and opened fire before speeding away.

A police official said that as per preliminary information, the doctor had a clinic in Lyari’s Kalakot neighbourhood.

He added that it was too soon to confirm if the attack was targeted, noting that investigators were still reviewing the victim’s background and other possible motives.

Police have launched a search for the suspects, and further investigation is under way.
