Field Marshal Asim Munir arrives in Turkiye on official visit

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir landed in Turkiye on Monday for a two-day official visit, according to state media.

Radio Pakistan reported that Field Marshal Munir was received by Turkish officials upon his arrival.

During the visit, he is scheduled to hold meetings with Turkiye's military and political leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest, the sources said.

The state-run wire service APP also reported his arrival and the planned high-level engagements.

The visit follows the recent trip to Pakistan by General Metin Tokel, commander of the Turkish Land Forces, who met Field Marshal Asim Munir last month to discuss regional security and ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his stay in Pakistan, General Tokel also held separate meetings with the chiefs of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Turkiye for talks aimed at expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
