Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Turkish president, armed forces chief in Ankara

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met withTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Tuesday during his official visit to Turkiye.

The Turkish presidency said in a post on X that President Erdogan received Field Marshal Asim Munir at Ankara Airport, where the meeting took place.

According to Reuters, the talks were held behind closed doors. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Chief of the General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu and National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) Director Ibrahim Kalin also attended the meeting.

In a separate post on X, the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan said that Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with a guard of honour by a tri-services contingent of the Turkish armed forces on his arrival in Ankara.

The embassy said General Bayraktaroglu welcomed the CDF and described defence ties between the two countries as being based on "brotherhood, mutual trust and a shared strategic vision."

Field Marshal Asim Munir is on an official visit to Turkiye.
