FIR registered after seven-year-old girl allegedly raped and killed in Sargodha

A case has been registered in Sargodha following the death of a seven-year-old girl, who was allegedly assaulted and murdered, police said on Tuesday.
According to police officials, the first information report (FIR) was lodged at City Police Station on the complaint of the victim's father under murder and other relevant sections of the law.
Following the registration of the case, investigators widened the scope of the inquiry and detained five suspects for questioning. Police said the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the incident are being examined.
A police spokesperson stated that authorities are committed to identifying everyone involved in the crime and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Police further said that CCTV footage showing the girl on her way to a nearby shop has been obtained as part of the investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that a shopkeeper allegedly assaulted and killed the child before fleeing the scene.
