Four Pakistani nationals reportedly killed in South Africa shooting

Four men, said to be Pakistani nationals, were shot dead in a suspected ambush in South Africa's Gauteng province, local media reported.

The incident took place on Saturday evening in Kempton Park, where the victims were reportedly running shops in the Sebenza area. South African news outlet News24 reported that several social media posts identified the victims as Pakistani nationals, although police have not officially confirmed their identities or nationality.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said authorities were investigating the deaths as murder cases. She said the victims were travelling in a Honda car when it stopped at a traffic signal.

According to police, two unidentified men arrived in a white sedan, got out of the vehicle and opened fire. The driver of the Honda attempted to escape but lost control and crashed into a traffic island.

Police said the motive behind the attack remains unknown and no arrests had been made.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow over the reported deaths and offered condolences to the families of the victims.

The Pakistan South Africa Association also condemned the killings, with its president Hayat Khan expressing grief and sympathy for the victims' relatives.
