Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman underwent an angioplasty procedure at a Karachi hospital on Monday, hospital sources said.
According to sources, Mr Naeem was admitted to the Dow University Hospital after he complained of chest pain.
He underwent angioplasty, during which a stent was inserted into the politician’s clogged artery to clear the blockage. The stent will hold the artery open and allow a free flow of blood.
Several politicians, including PTI leader Haleem Adil Shiekh, visited the hospital to inquire about his health.
Hafiz Naeem is out of danger and will be shifted to home soon, the sources added.
