Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said on Friday that harassment, domestic violence, and sexual or physical abuse of women are her "red line".

The PML-N seniour vice-president also launched an application, named Never Again, to ensure the safety and security of women.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of Never Again, she appreciated the women for supporting their families despite facing harassment from society.

First woman CM Punjab said she will not accept "society’s inappropriate behaviour against women".

“I have been receiving reports of rape cases regularly and miscreants are being arrested by police, but the courts release them on bail,” she revealed.

“I understand that women are easy targets to harass, I lived in a death cell and I know that it is too difficult to prove yourself in this patriarchal society,” she added.

While highlighting her struggle to make her place in her party, Maryam acknowledged that the PML-N was a male-dominated party and she "fought a tough battle for 13 years to prove herself".

On the occasion of Women's Day, CM Maryam announced to increase in the quota of women in the Punjab Public Service Commission (PSC) from 10 to 15 percent.

Maryam Nawaz said that the PML-N-led Punjab government will give interest-free loans to women.
