Karachi is expected to receive heavy downpours and thunderstorms from Thursday, as a new spell of rain is anticipated to hit the port city, as predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Earlier, the metropolitan city witnessed light and moderate rain from late Saturday to throughout Sunday, marking the first rain spell in April.
Director of PMD, Sardar Sarfaraz, said that a new weather system will enter Karachi on April 17. Under the influence of this system, heavy rain is expected in Karachi on April 18.
Following the rain, temperatures dropped in Karachi. However, according to Sarfaraz, the country would not witness a high temperature in the summer season, as most parts of Pakistan have been receiving irregular spells during the spring season.
“The summer season in Pakistan will begin in May and June, but it would not be very intense,” added the Chief Meteorologist.
“The weather in Karachi will remain partially cloudy, but there are no chances of more rain today,” according to Sardar Sarfaraz.
However, another weather analyst, Jawad Memon, had predicted three rain spells in Karachi for April. According to him, the second system would enter Karachi on Wednesday, while the third spell is likely to hit the port city at the end of the ongoing month.
