The Islamabad High Court has ordered authorities to take necessary steps to arrange a meeting between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala jail on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb passed the order during the hearing of the petition of the former first lady, seeking transfer from court-declared sub-jail Banigala to Adiala jail.
Following the order, the former prime minister is allowed to meet his wife once a week.
The top court of the federal capital also sought the argument from the prosecutor about terming Banigala as sub-jail, while it is "private property".
State counsel informed the court that the director of law issued the report of sub-jail Banigala after his visit to the property and showed his satisfaction with the facilities and arrangements.
On the other hand, Justice Aurangzeb remarked that Bushra Bibi's transfer to Adiala jail was stopped due to "political reason".
The court further refuted the prosecutor’s stance of over crowded-jail, saying that only 141 women were imprisoned in Adaiala jail.
“You have failed to satisfy us, as you all want to bring the rule of law to zero index,” the Judge concluded his remarks while adjourning the hearing indefinitely.
