The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested nine suspects, including a urologist and an employee of a private hospital, over their alleged involvement in illegal kidney transplants and organ trafficking in Islamabad.

According to FIA officials, the arrests were made during a raid conducted at a private hospital in the capital, where authorities suspect unlawful kidney removal and transplant procedures were being carried out.

Investigators described the doctor and the hospital staff member as central figures in the alleged network.

The raid was conducted on the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, FIA Director General Usman Anwar, and Islamabad Zone Director Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari.

Several other individuals found at the location, including suspected donors, recipients, and hospital employees, were also detained for questioning and shifted to the FIA office.

Officials said the case is linked to a larger organ trafficking network allegedly targeting poor residents from underdeveloped areas of southern Punjab, especially Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
