Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has called for a mass rally in Peshawar on September 27, with party leaders describing the gathering as part of their campaign for his release from prison.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail on Monday, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan conveyed his message, stating that the rally was intended to highlight what he termed a struggle for the nation’s “freedom.” She said the PTI founder had reiterated his stance that the party won a two-thirds majority in the last general elections but its mandate was “stolen.”
The PTI leadership in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, finalised arrangements for the event during a meeting in Peshawar. The rally is scheduled to take place near Ring Road Motorway Chowk at 4 pm. Faraz Mughal, the chief minister’s spokesman, has been appointed as the focal person for the gathering.
Gandapur told reporters that the rally would mark a “historic chapter” in PTI’s movement for Khan’s release, adding that the party’s struggle was aimed at “real freedom and justice.”
According to Aleema Khan, Imran also commented on the ongoing Toshakhana case, claiming a key witness had been discredited and that the matter could conclude in the coming hearings. She expressed hope that both Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, who are serving prison terms in a separate £190 million case, would soon be released.

Imran further directed PTI leaders not to engage in dialogue with the military establishment, saying earlier efforts had failed. “Whoever wants to talk should come to jail,” Aleema quoted him as saying.
