The Cantonment Kachheri of Lahore on Friday discharged YouTuber, journalist, and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan from a case involving interference with state property.

According to details, the police presented Imran Riaz in court seeking physical remand.

The police argued that the accused was arrested after being named in the First Information Report (FIR) and that other suspects were to be identified based on his testimony. Consequently, they requested a 10-day physical remand.

However, Imran Riaz's lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, opposed this request, stating that the charges against Imran were false and baseless.

The Judicial Magistrate initially reserved the decision on the remand. Later, in the final verdict, the magistrate ordered that the anchorperson be discharged from the case.

The judicial magistrate noted in the issued order that the offense detailed in the FIR and the remand papers was bailable, thus physical remand could not be granted according to the law. The investigating officer's request for physical remand was therefore rejected.

The order further stated that there was insufficient evidence against Imran Riaz, leading to his discharge from the case. The investigating officer was directed to release Imran Riaz if he was not wanted in any other case.

It is noteworthy that just the day before, the Model Town Court of Lahore dismissed a breach of trust case against Imran Riaz, although he was subsequently re-arrested on different charges.
