Indian woman Anju, who journeyed to Pakistan to meet her 'lover,' has expressed deep gratitude for the respect and protection extended by the people, police, and army during her stay.

She arrived in a remote village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to marry her Facebook friend, Nasrullah.

Having expressed her desire to go back to India and reunite with her children, Anju recently returned to India through the Wagah Border, as per media reports.

In a video recorded before her departure for India, Anju shared her appreciation for the people of Pakistan, stating, "I am Anju, and today marks my last day in Pakistan. Since my arrival, I have cherished every single day, and now it's time for me to bid farewell."

When asked about her experience during her stay in Pakistan, Anju remarked, “The people here are incredibly warm, hospitable, and respectful to everyone. Wherever I went, I was welcomed and treated like a family member.”

Responding to questions about her interactions with the police and armed forces in Pakistan, she added, "The commandos assigned to my security were courteous, and I experienced the same level of respect at the police station.”

Earlier, Nasrullah said that his wife is "mentally disturbed and badly missing" her children.

In July 2023, hailing from Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi district in India, travelled to Pakistan to meet the 29-year-old man she had connected with and grown fond of on Facebook.

The 34-year-old woman, now identified as Fatima, travelled to a remote village in KP. Anju purportedly converted to Islam and married her Pakistani partner, Nasrullah, residing in Upper Dir.

The couple formalised their union through a nikah ceremony at the district court in Upper Dir. A video had gone viral on social media depicting Anju and Nasrullah holding hands and exploring picturesque mountainous locations in the KPK.

Anju was already married to a man named Arvind in India. Her husband had informed the Indian media that she was heading to Jaipur for a few days. However, on July 23, Arvind discovered via the media that Anju had crossed the border.

Arvind said that he was aware of Anju’s relationship with a Pakistani man. However, he felt confident that his wife would return to him one day.
