Islamabad Police have issued a formal response to a letter from mosque administrations in the federal capital regarding security arrangements.

In its reply, the police directed that at least one armed security guard must be deployed during prayer times. The guard will be permitted to carry a weapon within the mosque premises.

According to the directive, parking will not be allowed at mosque entry and exit points or in surrounding areas.

It further states that there should be a single entry and exit point for both mosques and imambargahs.

The letter also imposes a ban on vendors, beggars, and the sale of caps or other items outside the main gates of mosques.

Mosque administrations have been instructed to immediately report any suspicious individuals, activities or unattended items to the police.

The directive emphasises that mosque and imambargah administrations must comply with the instructions without delay, warning that legal action will be taken in case of violations.
