In a touching display of solidarity, children from diverse backgrounds in Karachi's Lyari gathered to break their fast and dedicated their iftar evening to the kids in Gaza.

A local NGO, named Dreams of Youth Welfare Society, hosted the iftar for underprivileged children to raise awareness about the plight of young Gazans.

The children showed up with Palestinian flags painted on their faces, demonstrating solidarity with the thousands of Gaza kids, who have been traumatised since October 7, 2023, due to the loss of their loved ones and the horrific bloodshed they witnessed.

According to UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, within the past four months, over 12,300 young individuals have perished in the enclave. This figure surpassed the global count of 12,193 child fatalities recorded between 2019 and 2022.

Over 1,000 children have suffered the loss of one or both legs, with many undergoing amputation procedures without proper anesthesia. These children will need ongoing medical care throughout their lives.

While Muslims worldwide celebrate Ramadan with joy and enthusiasm, this year is marked differently for the people in Gaza, who face an acute shortage of food. The death toll from malnutrition has reached 27 in the north.

Due to the scarcity of essential goods, Many are forced to rely on flatbread and canned food delivered by aid organisations.

Basic staples like salt, sugar, fresh fruits and vegetables have become rare and expensive, compelling some to resort to consuming animal food.
