Karachi receives second day of monsoon rain with light to moderate showers

KARACHI: Light to moderate rainfall along with heavy winds was observed in many places of Karachi on Saturday evening, which was the second consecutive day of rainfall in this monsoon spell in the city.

Heavy rainfall for a short period was observed in 4K Chowrangi of Surjani Town and Lyari, while light to moderate rainfall occurred in Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Maymar and adjoining areas. Light drizzle fell in Hassan Square.

Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Airport, Sachal Goth, Mausamiyat and their adjoining areas also received heavy rainfall for a short period. Light rainfall was observed in Saddar and its adjoining areas, while only light drizzle was seen in Sea View and DHA.

As per the prediction of rainfall in Karachi by PMD, the city police was put on high alert, according to a press release.

As per the press release, the field commanders were asked to be present in their respective areas, whereas traffic police was told to facilitate free movement of traffic and provide alternate route to the congested areas due to water logging.
