Hot and humid weather continues to grip the port city as the feels-like temperature in Karachi reached 54 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
However, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-windstorm and thundershowers are likely to hit isolated places in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad and Sajawal today (July 18) during evening and night.
"Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of Sindh [during the 24 hours]," the Met office added.
According to the weather department, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C in the metropolis at 2pm which felt like 54°C as sea breezes came to a halt. The humidity level in the air was 64 percent.
A day earlier, Karachi recorded the hottest night of July for the second time as the temperature was clocked at 32.5°C. The port city's feels-like temperature reached 56°C.
Almost 200 Ashura mourners fell unconscious due to extreme heat in the metropolis and were admitted to the Jinnah Hospital camp.
The maximum temperature is likely to hover between 36-38°C in the provincial capital today, the Met office predicted.
However, the sea breezes are expected to be restored by today evening.
According to AcuRite, the feels-like temperature is a measurement of how hot or cold it really feels like outside.
"The Feels Like temperature relies on environmental data including the ambient air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed to determine how weather conditions feel to bare skin," the website said.
