A fire erupted in Karachi’s Landhi Processing Zone on Monday and rapidly spread to nearby factories. The blaze weakened the structure of the affected building, which collapsed several hours later.
At least seven people were injured, and all of them were promptly evacuated. Authorities have urged neighbouring factories to evacuate as well.
A fire started in the basement of a plastic factory, engulfing three additional units. The affected building consisted of two units, of which one fell, leaving at least seven individuals with minor injuries. All were transported to the hospital.
Rescue officials expressed concern about the possible presence of people trapped under the rubble, but refrained from confirming any casualties.
Despite ongoing efforts for over four hours, the fire has yet to be brought under control. A fire department official stated that all workers inside the building were successfully rescued, and surrounding units were evacuated.

Videos from the scene showed the thick black clouds of smoke rising to the skies, and the labourers were being evacuated with the help of a construction lift.
According to the fire brigade, at least 12 fire tenders, two water bowsers, and two snorkels participated in the operation. The authorities called more fire tenders to control the fire.
The Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, while taking notice of the incident, directed the fire brigade, rescue organisation and others to take immediate action to control the fire.
He said that human life protection should be seen as a priority during a rescue operation.
CM Shah ordered the Commissioner to conduct a full inquiry into the fire incident and said that full support should be provided to the factory owners and workers.
