The eight-month-old female camel, whose leg was mutilated by a landlord in Sanghar, is currently recovering in an animal shelter in Karachi, where her caretakers are providing mental and physical rehabilitation.
The camel calf was in deep pain due to the brutal treatment she endured. However, she has now drawn the attention and love of the shelter's staff as she receives proper food and medical care.
A journalist shared a video from the shelter, explaining that the camel is still terrified of interacting with humans due to her ordeal.
While the camel is on the path to recovery, the manager of the philanthropic organisation, Sarah, stated that she is still experiencing extreme pain from her deep wounds, making it difficult for her to stand or sit properly.
Sarah mentioned that the female camel is expected to make a full recovery within two months.
She revealed that organisations are reaching out to offer her a prosthetic leg and a decision will be made to prioritise her well-being.
Sarah, who named the camel "Cammie," frequently shares videos of her interactions with the calf on the shelter's social media accounts.
Providing gentle care is essential for the mental and physical rehabilitation of animals, as they feel and understand emotions just like humans, the shelter emphasised in the latest video of Cammie.
A landlord brutally mutilated the camel's right leg as punishment for entering his farmland. The police filed an FIR against the feudal on behalf of the state, as the camel owner, pressured by the landlord, refused to press charges.
