Police have identified the bodies of a man and woman discovered near China Port in Karachi's Clifton, revealing that the two hailed from Gujranwala and were allegedly in a relationship.
DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the victims were 30-year-old Sajid Masih and 25-year-old Sana Asif, both residents of the same village in Gujranwala. According to police, the couple had left their homes on July 15 with the intention of getting married.
The victims appeared to have been shot at close range, with police stating they were brought to the scene and executed either Sunday night or early Monday morning. Mobile phones, cash, and passport-sized photographs were also found at the crime scene.
Sana’s brother, Waqas, had lodged a kidnapping case at Gujranwala’s Tatlay Aali police station on July 17, naming Sajid and four others in the FIR.
Police said Waqas has been arrested and is being interrogated by Gujranwala authorities, who are coordinating closely with Karachi Police in the ongoing investigation.

DIG Raza stated that if required, a Karachi police team will travel to Gujranwala to further assist in the probe.
Investigators also suspect that a close relative may have been involved in the killings. Police added that if none of the families come forward to pursue legal action, the case will be registered on behalf of the state.
On Monday, the tortured bodies of the man and woman were recovered near China Port. Boat Basin police confirmed that both had been shot dead, and two 9mm bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
