The first spell of monsoon rains is likely to hit Karachi in the first week of July, a weather analyst predicted on Wednesday.

Talking to Geo News, the weather expert said that the port city is likely to receive downpours under the influence of a medium-level pressure that is expected to be created over the Arabian Sea on June 30.

The monsoon season is set to start on June 27 and will remain in action till July 4 across Pakistan.

However, weather experts said that "more than usual rains” will lash southern areas of Sindh, including Karachi this year.

On the other hand, the weathermen said that it is a “long-term forecast” that could further change in the future.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the metropolis will remain partially cloudy today.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 36 to 37 degree celsius in the megapolis.
