KP govt to buy two helicopters for rescue services

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to purchase two helicopters for emergency rescue services, according to media reprots. 

Speaking during a session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, the provincial law minister informed the house that a summary seeking approval for the purchase had been forwarded to Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi.

During the session, the speaker also questioned the government's earlier decision to procure drones for rescue services, asking whether the drones had been purchased and, if not, why the plan had not been implemented.

He further asked why the provincial government had not purchased helicopters earlier, questioning whether financial constraints were the reason.

Referring to people stranded in Kalam following recent heavy rains, the speaker directed the law minister to contact the Pakistan Army to assist in the rescue operation.
