Malir Expressway toll tax unveiled

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting in Karachi on Tuesday, announcing the installation of an automatic toll system at the under-construction Malir Expressway.
The new system, which will feature 18 toll booths, aims to provide a seamless and efficient experience for commuters.
During the meeting, CM Shah confirmed that the toll fee for cars will be set at Rs100, while buses will incur a toll fee of Rs200 for using the expressway.
He also emphasized the need for the completion of the Quaidabad Interchange, directing authorities to finish the project within two months.
Security measures for the Malir Expressway were also a key focus of the discussion. Plans were revealed to deploy 7 to 8 police vehicles for patrolling the route, with additional car patrols to be stationed along the expressway.
CM Shah instructed the five local police stations in the area to coordinate efforts to ensure the safety of commuters.
To further enhance safety, the Chief Minister mandated the presence of both an ambulance and a fire brigade on the expressway for emergency situations.
He also directed authorities to arrange for a Rescue 1122 ambulance service to be stationed along the route immediately.
In terms of progress, the meeting was informed that the first 9-kilometer segment of the Malir Expressway has been completed.
CM Shah expressed his intention to open this segment for public use by January 11 or 12, marking a significant milestone in the development of the project.
The meeting was attended by key government officials, including Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and several senior figures from law enforcement and transport departments.
