Pakistan Customs has confiscated 12 kilogrammes of marijuana concealed in parcels arriving from Thailand at the International Mail Office in Karachi.
According to a press release, customs officials intercepted two consignments originating from Bangkok during routine screening after identifying suspicious indicators.
A detailed physical examination by Preventive Officer Zahid Hussain revealed that the marijuana had been hidden inside plastic toy boxes in parcels declared as containing plastic toys and wooden rocks.
The seized narcotics weighed 7kg and 5kg, respectively, with an estimated market value of Rs366.2 million.
The drugs were handed over to the Directorate of Enforcement and Compliance for further legal action.
Customs said a first information report (FIR) had been registered and investigations were under way to trace those involved in the attempted smuggling.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led enforcement and strict implementation of customs laws to curb smuggling and protect public safety.
