Mohsin Naqvi's Interior Ministry recorded the highest number of audit observations among federal entities reviewed by the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), according to a 399-page audit report that identified financial irregularities, procedural violations and recoveries pending across various ministries and departments.

The report noted that the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control accounted for 65 audit paras, the highest among all examined organisations. The Higher Education Commission followed with 31 observations, while the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan recorded 18.

According to the audit findings, the interior ministry was cited for a range of financial, administrative and regulatory issues. Auditors highlighted the non-recovery of Rs22 million in annual renewal fees and penalties related to no-objection certificates issued for armoured vehicles. Another Rs27 million in annual renewal fees from private security companies also remained unrecovered.

The report further stated that receipts amounting to Rs56 million from 3,421 arms licences were not deposited into the government treasury. Auditors also questioned the conversion of manual arms licences into computerised licences, describing the process as doubtful and identifying discrepancies in data relating to prohibited-bore weapons.
