Monsoon rains claimed 126 lives across Pakistan since June 26: NDMA

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released its report on the human and material losses caused by monsoon rains across Pakistan between June 26 and August 1

According to the report, 126 people were killed and 404 others injured in rain-related incidents nationwide during the reporting period.

The NDMA stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 55 deaths, including 26 children. Punjab reported 47 deaths, including 19 children, while 295 people were injured, among them 68 children.

In Sindh, five people were killed and seven injured, including two children among the fatalities. Balochistan recorded eight deaths and 15 injuries.

The report further stated that 75 relief camps were established in Punjab for people affected by the monsoon rains.

In addition, 333 heatwave camps were set up to help residents cope with extreme temperatures, where 2,203 people received medical assistance.

According to the NDMA, during the past 24 hours, rescue teams carried out four rescue operations in Punjab, relocating nine people to safer locations.

Rescue personnel also evacuated two people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and five people in Sindh to safety.
