Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara passed away while waiting for rescue after sustaining injuries on Broad Peak, the rescue team confirmed on Monday.

The Broad Peak Rescue Team reached Camp One earlier today and confirmed the death of the climber.

According to the rescue team, Sadpara's body was brought to Japanese Camp and then transported to base camp by 2pm today.

Two other climbers also successfully reached the base camp. A four-member rescue team departed the base camp at 1am to save Sadpara’s life.

The deceased will be transported to Skardu through an army helicopter. Sadpara was leading a cleaning expedition on the mountain.

After successfully retrieving the body of mountaineer Hasan Shagri from the dangerous K2 bottleneck last week, the 27-year-old climber planned to summit Broad Peak, with a Portuguese climbing partner.

However, when his fellow climber became ill, they decided to return to base camp but Murad Sadpara suffered a serious head injury from a falling rock on Saturday.

Mountaineer Naila Kiani urgently requested a military helicopter to rescue Murad. However, upon reaching the site today, rescue teams discovered that he had already succumbed to his injuries.

Sadpara, who climbed four peaks over 8,000 meters including K2, left behind three daughters and a son.

Known for rescuing mountaineers, Sadpara had successfully brought down the body of an Afghan climber from the heights of K2's Camp Three last year.
