MQM Pakistan Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the Gul Plaza tragedy.
In the letter, the MQM-P chairman has demanded the formation of a high-level, impartial and transparent body under the name of the Gul Plaza Inquiry Commission to investigate the incident.
The letter states that the commission should include institutions such as the FIA, NAB, NDMA and other relevant bodies.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has urged the federal government and law enforcement agencies to immediately take control of rescue and relief operations to ensure that human remains and valuable belongings are properly secured.
He has also called for the establishment of a federally administered Relief and Rehabilitation Fund to provide financial assistance to the victims and their families.
According to the letter, despite seven days having passed since the incident, many people are still missing, families have not received the bodies of their loved ones, and more than 12,000 families have been directly affected by the tragedy.
The MQM-P chairman further stated that the Sindh government, provincial departments and municipal authorities bear direct responsibility for the loss of lives and financial damage.
He alleged that the Sindh government, the Mayor of Karachi, the SBCA and other institutions were guilty of criminal negligence.
