Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Senator Faisal Subzwari on Tuesday warned the federal government regarding his party's possible withdrawal from the ruling coalition, citing the alarming rise in street crimes in Karachi.

Senator Subzwari took aim at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which has governed Sindh province for the past 15 years, stating that such violence in other parts of the country, would have prompted calls for a major operation.

"If our people continue to be killed, we will leave the government," he maintained while addressing the media in Karachi.

The metropolitan city is gripped by fear as violent street crimes, including robberies, continue to claim lives during the holy month of Ramadan.

Despite increasing lawlessness in the city, authorities seem to lack adequate measures to apprehend the criminals.

The rampant street crimes have instilled fear and a sense of insecurity among the citizens as ruthless robbers have been freely roaming the city, looting people and killing them over the slightest hint of resistance with impunity.

Karachi has seen a staggering 16,000 street crimes in just the first three months of this year, according to statistics reported at the Sindh cabinet's inaugural meeting on March 13.

At least 50 Karachiites have been killed over robbery resistance in January, February and March.

11 people were killed by ruthless robbers in twenty days of the holy month of Ramadan.
