The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has been maintaining a relentless protest against the acid attack on Dr Mah Noor for 19 days now.

In a recent central meeting, the association has vowed to escalate the level of protest and informed that the closing of OPDs in government hospitals will persist till their demands are fulfilled.

The YDA has blamed the government of negligence and lack of sensitivity, alleging that the insecurity among the doctors is increasing day by day.

The demands made by the association include immediate dismissal of the Secretary of Health Balochistan and the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, the establishment of judicial commission for investigating the acid attack on Dr Mah Noor and implementing of the Doctors Security Act immediately.

A Grand Doctors Conference has been planned to be held on June 29, which will be followed by a protest rally starting from Civil Hospital on June 30. There will be protests in all the government hospitals of the province on the same date.

Leaders of the association have vowed to continue the protest until effective security measures for doctors are ensured, those responsible for the attack are brought to justice, and meaningful reforms are introduced in the health department.

They have appealed to doctors, medical organizations, and civil society across Balochistan to fully participate in the June 29 conference and the June 30 protest programs to express solidarity with Dr Mah Noor Nasir.

It may be mentioned here that the Balochistan government has decided to send Dr Mah Noor Nasir, who was critically injured in a brutal acid attack in Quetta, to the United States for better and more advanced medical care.
