To enhance the convenience of residents in Karachi, the capital of Sindh and the largest city in Pakistan, the government has announced the establishment of passport offices within two NADRA mega centres.
As reported by Express News, passport services will now be accessible at the NADRA Mega Centre located at 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre at Siemens Chowrangi (SITE).
This initiative aims to alleviate congestion at the central passport office by offering alternative locations for passport services.
The decision was reached during the recent visit of Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, to Karachi, where discussions regarding the establishment of passport offices at NADRA centres took place.
Sources suggest that passport services will also be rolled out at approximately 11 NADRA mega centres throughout Pakistan, including those in Karachi.
Previously, during an unannounced visit to the 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defence Mega Centre, Naqvi engaged with applicants seeking passports and ID cards. He inquired about their experiences, and citizens expressed their satisfaction, commending the system's efficiency.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured that the issues causing delays in passport issuance were being addressed, with citizens now receiving their passports within the designated time frame.
On this occasion, Naqvi reiterated the commitment to resolving delays in passport issuance and assured timely delivery in the future.
Furthermore, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the Director General of Immigration and Passports, confirmed that the backlog of pending passports across Pakistan has been effectively cleared.
