Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Zulfi Bukhari accused Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and security agencies of hiding at least 40 dead bodies of the protesters who were allegedly killed during a clampdown by law enforcement in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Taking to X, Zulfi Bukhari asserted that he is sharing this information with ‘great responsibility’ that two public hospitals in Islamabad are hiding the dead and injured PTI workers.
These hospitals, Bukhair said, “have been told by both Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi & agencies not to give any information about the dead bodies in the hospital’s mortuaries. There are roughly around 40 dead bodies.”
He further added, “Hospitals are neither giving them to their families nor processing any paper work. Even those who are critically injured are not being allowed to shift to another hospital… The last 24hrs have been one of the darkest in our history.”
Earlier, Polyclinic in Islamabad dismissed the news of dead bodies with gunshot wounds arriving at the hospital as false.
“Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC) denies news being circulated on social media regarding dead bodies in the hospitals due to the gunshot wounds /bullet/ grenade. Such unverified news pertaining to this hospital circulating in the media may be considered as fake.” FGPC statement read.
Journalist Matiullah Jan also interviewed Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Coordinator on Health at PIMS Hospital, about the dead bodies of PTI workers. However, Dr Ahmad expressed his unawareness of the matter.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media accounts revealed the details of at least 10 workers killed during a violent crackdown on protests in Islamabad, contradicting Mohsin Naqvi’s statement that no protesters had died.
PTI’s official Instagram account shared pictures and names of the deceased party workers. While two remain unidentified, the other victims were identified as:
Mobeen Malik (Abbottabad), Anees Satti (Murree), Muhammad Iyas (Islamabad), Shafiq Khan (DG Khan), Abdul Rasheed (Balochistan), Wali Muhammad (Pishin), Tariq Khan (Shangla), Malik Sardar Ali (Mardan).
