Today, Pakistan is marking the 148th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.
The day began with special prayers at mosques across the nation, seeking blessings for the prosperity, unity, and progress of the country.
In a solemn tribute to the Father of the Nation, a 21-gun salute was fired in all provincial capitals, while the national flag was raised at prominent government and private buildings, symbolising the nation’s deep respect and admiration for Jinnah's leadership.
A key highlight of the day’s celebrations was the change of guard ceremony at the Mazar-e-Quaid mausoleum in Karachi, where members of the Pakistan Armed Forces paid homage to Jinnah’s memory.
Special events and activities have been organized throughout the country, ranging from seminars and conferences to debates, cultural programs, and exhibitions.
These gatherings aim to spotlight the life, struggles, and accomplishments of Quaid-i-Azam, while also promoting his vision of a progressive, inclusive, and democratic Pakistan. Educational institutions across the nation are hosting debates, art competitions, and essay writing contests, centered around Jinnah’s leadership and his core principles of unity, faith, and discipline.
Media outlets are also playing a crucial role in celebrating this day. Television and radio channels are airing special programs and documentaries that highlight Jinnah’s pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan. Newspapers have published special supplements, recounting his immense contributions to the formation of the nation.
In a bid to inspire the younger generation, the Information Service Academy (ISA) held an exhibition showcasing rare photographs and portraits of Jinnah, along with a documentary about his life and achievements. The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has also arranged a ceremony at its headquarters, commemorating both Christmas and the birth anniversary of the Quaid.
To foster creativity and patriotism, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) organized an on-the-spot painting and drawing competition, inviting young artists to express their tributes to Jinnah through their artwork.
Lok Virsa is hosting several events, including an artisans-at-work exhibition, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a Milli Naghmas Show featuring patriotic songs. Documentaries on Jinnah’s life and vision will be screened throughout the day.
Additionally, a Quaid Day Safari Cycling Rally is being held from Safari Club to Mini Gold Club, encouraging citizens to come together in celebration.
Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a distinguished barrister and politician, led the All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan's independence on August 14, 1947.
