The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide alert for intense monsoon rains and potential flooding from June 29 to July 5, warning of severe weather across multiple regions of Pakistan.
According to the NDMA, heavy rainfall is forecast across Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Potohar region, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Balakot, Murree, and Galiyat. These areas are at heightened risk of flash floods and landslides due to torrential downpours.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urban flooding is anticipated in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Swat, Chitral, D.I. Khan, Bannu, and Mardan. Rising water levels are also expected in the Kabul, Swat, Chitral, and Hunza rivers and their tributaries.
Punjab’s northern and central cities—including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Kasur—could face flooding in low-lying areas due to sustained rainfall.

The alert also highlights the risk of landslides in Hazara, Malakand, Azad Kashmir, and areas near the Pir Panjal range. In Sindh, heavy rainfall between July 2 and 5 is expected to trigger urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin.
The NDMA has also warned of infrastructure hazards, noting that strong winds and heavy rainfall could damage weak structures, mud walls, electric poles, and billboards. Reduced visibility during storms may lead to accidents.
Citizens are advised to avoid crossing streams and rivers, steer clear of fragile infrastructure, and stay updated on weather conditions—especially those planning travel to hilly areas.
All relevant government departments and emergency services have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure preventive and preparedness measures are in place to manage any crisis.
