The custom of exchanging sweets between Pakistan and Indian border forces on the occasion of Eidul Fitr was suspended this year due to the escalating tensions between neighbourly countries, Express Tribune reported on Saturday.
It has been a tradition with the Pakistan Rangers and the BSF on the Wagah border to exchange sweets on festivals such as Eid and Diwali.
Last week, the border forces of both countries did not exchange sweets on the Hindu religious festival of Holi.
Pakistan had suspended all bilateral trade with Indian following New Delhi's decision to revoke Article 370 in August 2019, which guaranteed a semi-autonomous status for Indian-occupied Kashmir.
However, no specific reason was cited for not exchanging greetings and sweets by the authorities of the two countries.
