The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) reported that 36 people were killed in various incidents across Karachi in February, while 1,402 mobile phones were snatched.
The report also noted that 3,773 motorcycles and 195 cars were taken, including 36 snatched and 159 stolen four-wheelers.
Additionally, 549 motorcycles were snatched, while 3,224 were stolen.
The city recorded four extortion cases and one abduction for ransom last month. However, no bank robberies or dacoities were reported.
In 2024, Karachi saw 1,503 incidents affecting civilians, including women, children, and law enforcement personnel.
Despite police efforts, including an aggressive "half-fry" strategy (arrest and shoot), robbers continued their activities, resulting in 106 fatalities, including military and police officials, engineers, and security guards. Nearly 300 others were injured.
The police claim a 21% reduction in crimes compared to the previous year, with crime-solving rates reaching international standards.
However, street crime remains a major challenge, with continued incidents of theft, robberies, and violence.
