Indian Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Lieutenant General S Mohan, has lauded the exceptional professionalism of Pakistani peacekeepers, according to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Indian top commander commended the Pakistani peacekeepers' "professionalism, dedication, and commitment" in a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.
Pakistan's blue helmets have been instrumental in maintaining peace and security in South Sudan, undertaking challenging engineering tasks to ensure the protection of civilians.
Their dedication has been particularly evident in the worst flood-affected areas, where they worked tirelessly to safeguard over 250,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs).
"Indian General Officer specially acknowledged the role played by Brigadier Shafqat Iqbal as Sector Commander and Lieutenant Colonel Shahbaz Aslam as Commanding Officer," the statement by military's media wing read.
The recognition by neighbouring military reinforces the Pakistani Army's "reputation as a reliable and capable partner in international peacekeeping efforts."
"Pakistan remains committed to play a pivotal role as a responsible member of the international community to help realize the ideals of global peace and security through active support in UN Peacekeeping Missions."
