The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Sunday that Eid ul Fitr will be observed in Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, following the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Islamabad, presided over by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Suparco, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, along with members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Maulana Azad, addressing a press conference, confirmed that testimonies of the moon sighting were received from various parts of the country, leading to the formal declaration of Eid ul Fitr on March 31.
Eid ul Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is determined based on moon sighting. Scientific assessments by Suparco and astronomical calculations had earlier indicated that the crescent moon would be visible on March 30.
