Pakistan to hold live-broadcast PIA privatization bidding, announces PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the bidding process for the privatization of the national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), will take place on December 23.

The Prime Minister stated that the entire bidding process will be broadcast live on media to ensure complete transparency.

He made this announcement during a meeting with representatives of the companies participating in the privatization process.

He asserted that transparency and merit are the top priorities in the privatization of the national airline.

Highlighting the strategic importance of restoring PIA’s international flights, the Prime Minister said that this step will greatly benefit overseas Pakistanis.

In addition, he stressed that upgrading the national airline according to modern standards is crucial for the development of the country’s tourism sector.

The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Privatization also said during the meeting that the purchasing company would gain significant advantages from this move.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that whoever takes charge after the bidding will focus all efforts on restoring the reputation and identity of the national airline.
