Pakistan and Palestine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in the health sector, the Ministry of National Health Services said on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on behalf of Pakistan and the Palestinian Ambassador representing his government.

According to the ministry, the MoU aims to promote collaboration in advanced medical fields, professional training, and joint research. It also outlines the creation of a Pakistan–Palestine Health Working Group within 30 days to oversee implementation.

Areas of cooperation include interventional cardiology, organ transplants, orthopedic surgery, burn treatment, plastic surgery, and endoscopic ultrasound. Pakistan will also share expertise in infectious diseases, ophthalmology, pharmaceuticals, and research. Training opportunities for Palestinian doctors at leading Pakistani institutions are part of the plan.

Minister Kamal said the agreement reflects Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Palestine beyond politics. “The purpose of this agreement is to foster closer collaboration for improving the health and well-being of the people of both brotherly nations,” he said.

The Palestinian Ambassador welcomed the initiative, describing it as a step toward strengthening ties. “Palestine and Pakistan are brotherly countries. Together, we will work for the improvement of health and well-being of our peoples,” he said.

Officials noted that the agreement represents a practical framework for cooperation and is expected to create long-term benefits for healthcare systems in both countries.
