Pakistan Ulema Council declares Friday as day of gratitude over Pakistan-Saudi defense pact

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Ulema Council has announced that Friday will be observed as a Day of Gratitude and Prayer in light of the landmark defense agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Council Chairman Allama Tahir Ashrafi congratulated Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the military leadership, stating that the Pakistan Armed Forces are honored to be entrusted with the defense of the holy lands of Haramain Sharifain.
The agreement, signed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reflects the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen their security and pursue peace and stability in the region and beyond.
According to the joint statement, the pact aims to deepen defense cooperation and reinforce joint deterrence against any form of aggression.

It further stipulates that aggression against either country will be regarded as an attack on both, thereby ensuring Pakistan’s role in safeguarding the holy lands of Saudi Arabia.
The declaration also highlighted the eight-decade-long historic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, underscoring their shared strategic interests and close defense ties.
