Pakistan warns against threats to its flagged vessels, maritime interests

Pakistan has warned that any hostile act against Pakistani-flagged vessels or the country's maritime interests will be considered a grave threat to its national security, as tensions continue following the Iran-US conflict.

In one of its strongest statements since the conflict began, Islamabad said it reserves the right to take "all necessary measures, including lawful use of force" in exercise of its inherent right to self-defence under international law.

The statement underscored Pakistan's commitment to safeguarding its maritime interests and ensuring the security of its vessels operating in international waters.

Pakistan also condemned threats by Yemen's Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, calling such actions a risk to regional stability and the security of international maritime trade.

Reaffirming its support for Saudi Arabia, Islamabad said it stands firmly with the Kingdom in safeguarding its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
