Pakistan has secured its first-ever gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad.

According to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, the 35th edition of the International Biology Olympiad was held in the Philippines, commencing on July 20.

Abdul Rafi Paracha represented Pakistan and won the prestigious gold medal at the competition.

The national team was led by Dr. Asma Imran and Dr. Asma Rehman.

The spokesperson added that Miss Ayan Aslam received an Honorable Mention for her performance, while Sadia Zulfiqar and Urooj Fatima also participated as part of the Pakistani delegation.

Separately, the spokesperson noted that Pakistan also won a bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad held in France.
