A young Pakistani boy, named Mohammed Abu Bakr, has secured first position in an international Holy Quran recitation competition (Al-Ameed) held in Iraq.

The second and third positions in the juniour catefory were won by Iraq's Ahmed Hassan Hamza and Iran's Yasin Gholami.

The competition was held in March in Karbala and was organised by the Holy Quran’s scientific complex of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (RA).

Participants from 21 countries took part in the competition and a jury of experts selected the winners of the qualifying, semi-final and final competitions.

The soulful recitation of the Pakistani boy also went viral on social media, garnering appreciation from the netizens.

He was given a red flower welcome as he reached his hometown after making Pakistan proud on the international stage.
