An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday granted a seven-day extension in the police remand of the suspect arrested in the murder case of PAF Group Captain Asim Tariq.
The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain after the suspect was produced in court on completion of an earlier seven-day physical remand.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiyani requested a further 15-day physical remand, informing the court that the pistol allegedly used in the murder had been recovered after the suspect disclosed where he had hidden it following the incident.
The prosecutor further submitted that investigators still needed to recover the suspect's mobile phone and required additional time to complete the investigation.
After hearing the arguments, the court approved a seven-day physical remand instead of the 15 days sought by the prosecution and directed investigators to produce the suspect again on August 3.
