In an attempt to digitalise the government institutions across the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the public-sector offices to switch to the paperless system within a month.
The task was given to the Ministry of Information Technology and other concerned authorities to swiftly implement the paperless system in the federal government's offices.
The decision to convert offices to a paperless system was taken in a meeting chaired by Premier Shehbaz.
During the meeting, he said no delay would be acceptable in the implementation of the e-offices system.
PM Shehbaz directed the concerned to work on all office files and convert them to the e-formate and added that he would not "like to see files other than the e-form".
According to the statement issued after the meeting, the Premier said the transformation aims to ensure "transparency" and "improvement" in the system.
The announcement came after the Prime Minister's office staff completed its training of e-office training last week.
“It is a significant step towards the promotion of digitalisation and improvement of governance in Pakistan,” said the premier.
PM Shehbaz also sought a progress report on the implementation of his direction within two weeks.
Directing the fast implementation of a paperless office, PM Shehbaz set a deadline of a month to transform the system.
